PULSE: Accelerating Distributed Pointer-Traversals on Disaggregated Memory
ACM ASPLOS, 2025
Abstract
CPU-side caches amortize network latency in disaggregated-memory systems but cannot help workloads that chase pointers through linked data structures. PULSE is a distributed pointer-traversal framework that moves these traversals closer to disaggregated memory while preserving expressiveness, energy efficiency, performance, and distributed execution. Evaluation shows low-latency, high-throughput, and energy-efficient execution for a broad range of pointer-traversal workloads that perform poorly with caching alone.
