Distributed Brain-Computer Interfacing With a Networked Multi-accelerator Architecture
IEEE Micro, 2024
Abstract
SCALO is a distributed brain-computer interface consisting of multiple wireless-networked implants on different brain regions. It opens new treatment options and avenues for studying brain-wide networks while preserving the tight power constraints of implanted devices. Its efficiency comes from a full-stack distributed design with accelerator-rich compute and cross-layer co-design of processing, networking, and storage, enabling fast distributed operation that had previously been impractical.
